Note: The Alfred Hitchcoc Hour season 3 contains the Alfred Hitchcoc-directed Ford Startime TV-epsiode "Incident at a Corner" (1960) starring Vera Miles. (But you would at least get all episodes in region-free NTSC with correct speed and pitch.) If you allready have all the AHP seasons, I don't think this would be much of an upgrade to be honest. If you don't own any of the previous releases, it's a great way to get a complete set of 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents' and The 'Alfred Hitchcock Hour'. But it's all acceptable and quite frankly the only option as for now. They look ok, with season 3 looking the weakest with some chroma noise and soft image. 'The Alfred Hitchcock' hour series masters seem older than the earlier seasons. I don't remember how the old US disc looked, but I'm guessing they are pretty similar. Audio-pitch is correct and none of them are bad pal-to-ntsc conversions as far as I can tell. All 59 discs (35 + 24) are proper NTSC (progressive 23.976 fps in 480-60i container) and region-free as well. Hey buddy I just got my hands on the Australian ViaVision DVD release of 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents: The Complete Series' and 'The Alfred Hitchcock Hour'. Will probably get these in the next couple of weeks but wanted better details. Question for anyone who owns the Alfred Hitchcock Presents Australian DVD releases (either the complete series, or the seasons 1-4 and season 5-7 box sets) - are season 1-6 the same transfers as what we got in the US? Since they are quite a bit newer, I thought maybe they were newer better scans but I cannot find alot of info on them. Outside of the UK l, especially the US I have no idea to the specifics. Any restored versions such as The Lodger are released in the UK with permission from BFI for their restoration to be used. So in answer to your question the BFI can release the 9 under their own label without permission in 2051. It's a common misconception with copyright that all versions become PD when in fact it is only the original unrestored films that do. I was just pointing out that the restored versions remain copyright of the BFI. In the US, we tend to pass laws to extend copyright another 25-50 years at a time. Granted I'm an American so I'm unsure what British standards are. My question was pertaining to when the BFI could release it themselves without fear of SC or any other parties.īFI having copyright over their own restorations was beyond what I was trying to get at. I was trying to point out that even if the films that the BFI have restored are currently the property of others, like Studio Canal, etc., BFI would be able to release the restored versions when SC own copyright becomes public domain.
